Green Day – Tuesday 15th October 2013

October 18, 2013admin

Today we had Green Day in the school. The children worked really hard helping to clean the school and the garden. We spent the morning sorting out the class libraries and moving them all into the new school library. The children helped to clean up the school garden by raking and picking all the weeds. We also planted some flowers and bulbs. As part of our maths week the children estimated what they thought the enormous turnip would weigh and then we used the weighing scale to weigh it. Children also did lots of sweeping and litter picking. 5th and 6th worked hard in setting up our new pitch and putt area. Below are a few pictures of the days various activities carried out. Thank you everybody for all your hard work!!

Who Wants to be a Millionaire – Wednesday 16th October 2013

October 18, 2013admin

All the school filed into Ms. McCabe’s room to take part in Who Wants to be a Millionaire. The children were divided up into their 10 teams. Ms. Parke was the quiz mistress! All 10 teams were included in the fastest finger first question. The outcome of this question gave us the team who would play the game. The rest of the children formed the audience and helped the playing team . The playing  team  went all the day and answered the one million pound question successfully. Here are a few photographs that were taken on the day.

Maths Week 14th – 18th October 2013

October 18, 2013admin

This week in Kilbride N.S we celebrated Maths Week. We took part in lots of maths activities. Tips for using maths were sent home to the parents. All pupils from 3rd to 6th class were registered on Manga High website to play maths games against schools from all over the world – each child received their own username and passwords and teachers are keeping an eye on their progress. Each class received their own maths challenge for the week. On Tuesday as part of our Green Day in the school we weighed our enormous turnip that we grew in our school garden. On Wednesday, the children took part in the whole school quiz based on maths called Who Wants to be a Millionaire. On Thursday all the children took part in a whole school maths trail. Finally, on Friday, all classes brought in maths board games and played them. We had so much fun this week in school and we worked especially hard at our maths for maths week. Well Done Everyone!!

Cumann na mBunscoile

October 18, 2013admin

In September and October we took part in the Cumann na mBunscoile Gaelic Football league. The 4th  5th and 6th class boys were playing. As were the 5th and 6th class girls. The boys played against Moynalvey, Rathmore, Cillian and Rathmoylian. The girls have played three matches so far. They have played Drumbaragh, Moylagh and next week they are playing Ballincree. Both teams tried their best during the competition. They had great fun representing our school. Well done to both teams. We still have pride in Kilbride.
