A very special event is just around the corner in Kilbride – The Kilbride 5km Fun Run!
The run will take place on 5th March 2017. Everyone is welcome – men, women, children, buggies…!
Each Friday in Kilbride NS, the children (and teachers!) will be training for the run. Please send in shoes suitable for running, spare socks and an extra drink of water with your children each Friday over the coming weeks.
We look forward to seeing you all there!

Hi everyone,
The Book Fair has arrived at Kilbride N.S., and will be running this week only from Monday 14th November – Thursday 17th November. You can send money to school with the book clearly marked on the booklet previously sent home, or parents/guardians can come into the hall from 1.45pm – 2.30pm Monday – Thursday and choose some books with their child(ren). This is a fantastic Fair and we hope you all enjoy getting involved.

A huge congratulations and well done to our fantastic Hurling team who brought home the cup last Saturday. It was a huge achievement and means so much after a long fourteen year wait! We are all very proud of the team.
A massive thank you to Tommy Leavy and Brendan Fulham, as without them this achievement would not have been possible. Also, a massive thank you to the parents who continually helped with lifts, refreshments and moral support, and of course Michael Healy and the Parents’ Association who organised the refreshments after the game.
Our outstanding supporters on the day were undoubtedly the loudest and this encouragement was just what the team needed! The excellent combination of support and great team spirit won the final for sure. We are all thrilled in Kilbride N.S.. What a fantastic way to end the school year!

Dance performance:
Our dance performance will take place tomorrow Thursday, 9th June. All parents/guardians are invited to see our moves here in Kilbride N. S.! The performances will commence at 10.00a.m. and will finish at approximately 11.00a.m. It is sure to be a spectacular show! Children may go home after the dance performance if parents/guardians wish.
Track and Field Championships:
Best of luck to the 28 children from Kilbride N.S. who will be participating in the Athletics Competition on Wednesday, 15th June at 10.00a.m. at Claremont Athletic Track.
Junior School Tour:
A reminder that the boys and girls from Junior Infants, Senior Infants, First Class and Second Class will be going on their school tour to Butlers Chocolate Factory in Dublin on Friday, 17th June.
Write a Poem Award Ceremony:
Congratulations to the 7 children from Kilbride N.S. who received an award and certificate last Thursday to acknowledge their outstanding poems!
Hurling Final:
Best of luck to the hurling team who are in the final this coming Saturday, 11th June at 10.30a.m. in Trim G.A.A. pitch. We are looking forward to a great turnout on the day from children and parents. As our colours are the same as the Meath team, please try to wear our team’s colours on the day to show great support for them.

Non-Uniform Day in aid of Nurture Africa
Ms. Moriarty would like to say a HUGE thank you to all of the children and their families for the very generous donations given last Friday. All donations have been eagerly presented to Nurture Africa already! We wish Ms. Moriarty all the best in Africa this summer.

Internet Safety Talk
The Parents Association have organised an internet safety talk which is taking place tonight @7.00p.m. in the school. Many thanks to the Parents Association for organising this very important talk.
Hurling
We wish our hurling team the very best in their upcoming match this Friday, 27th May 2016 against St. Paul’s, Navan @ 1.00p.m.. Thank you to all parents who have been providing lifts, as without them we would be unable to participate in the hurling league.
Book Grant Application Form
The Book Grant Application Forms must be submitted to the school by this Friday, 27th May 2016. No applications will be accepted after this date.
Write A Poem Award Ceremony
The Write A Poem Award Ceremony will be taking place on Thursday, 2nd June 2016. We wish all of our winners the best of luck and hope they have a brilliant time at the ceremony.
Dance Performance
Performances will run from 10.00a.m. – 11.00a.m. (approximately) on Thursday, 9th June 2016. All parents are invited to call in and see our fantastic dance moves here in Kilbride N.S.! Children may go home after the dance performance if parents wish.
Graduation
The Graduation ceremony for the children in 6th Class will be held on Monday, 20th June @ 6.00p.m..
New Primary Language Curriculum – Oral Language Introduction: In-Service Day.
The school will be closed on Friday, 24th June 2016. However, the school will be open on Monday, 27th June and Tuesday, 28th June as per original calendar.

Preparations are well under way here in Kilbride N. S. for the First Holy Communion (this coming Saturday 7th May at 11.30am sharp!). Just a quick reminder for all children in the choir to arrive at the church for 11.10am. So far, the weather looks to be fantastic for the big day so keep all fingers and toes crossed!
Please see the notes which will be sent home today in relation to the exciting school tours which are just around the corner. Junior Infants – Second Class will be visiting Butlers Chocolate Factory (yummy!) on the 17th June. On the 7th June, Third – Sixth Class will experience the Irish Military War Museum, which is particularly appropriate for the 100th Anniversary of 1916.
Also, Kilbride N. S. would like to say a massive thank you to all who have made any contributions to the school fund – they are all greatly appreciated.
Here in Kilbride National School we have some good news to share with you all!! We have been awarded our Third Green Flag for conserving water. We have worked really hard this year and last year to earn this flag. Congratulations to the Ms. Kealey and the Green Schools Committee on all their hard work in ensuring that everyone in the school works at different ways to save water. Well done also to everyone in the school who has also worked hard in earning this flag. We now have three Green Flags – one for waste and recycling, one for energy conservation and one for water conservation. Eleanor and Sean from Sixth Class have been chosen to represent the school in DCU at the flag award ceremony on May the 25th. As a reward the whole school, for their hard work, have been awarded a homework pass!
Well Done to Zoe who took part in the Spelling Bee last Tuesday, 19th April 2016. She did really well and she made it to Round Five of the competition. Well Done Zoe and we are all really proud of you here in Kilbride National School.
A reminder that the school will be closed on Friday. 29th April 2016 and will reopen on Tuesday the 3rd of May 2016.
I, Mrs. Crosby, will be finishing up for Maternity Leave on Monday, 25th April 2016. Miss Moriarty will be teaching Third and Fourth Class for the remainder of this school year 2015 / 2016. I will miss all the children and will be back to visit before the summer holidays!
There will be a non – uniform day in Kilbride National School next Thursday, 28th April 2016. The proceeds of this Non – Uniform Day will go towards the purchase of literacy resources for the children. A donation of €2 per child would be appreciated.
Gardening Day was a huge success today, Thursday, 21st April 2016. We had a fabulous day weather wise and all the children in the school worked very hard in our school garden. We would like to say a huge thank you to Miriam for dedicating her time to taking all of the children out to work in the garden. Well Done to all the children for working so hard in the school garden. We can safely say that “We really do have a lot of pride in Kilbride”.
Europe Day was a great success this year in Kilbride National School. They children really enjoyed it. All classes took part in a whole school Europe Day Quiz. We also all took part in doing the Handshake for Europe after big break on Wednesday. Finally, all the classes learned about Europe and the European Union with their class teacher on this day. Well done to Third and Fourth Class for working so hard on the project this year.
Hurling training started this week and will continue every Tuesday for pupils from Third to Sixth Class only. Children should have a pair of shin guards and their own helmet. The hurling training will take place after school from 2:30 to 3:30. Please ensure that your child is collected at 3:30.
We would like to wish Zoe Murray in Fifth Class the best of luck on Tuesday the 19th April 2016. Zoe will be representing Kilbride National School in the Spelling Bee competition in Ratoath. We know Zoe is going to do great. She has been practising really hard for the competition. Good Luck Zoe!
Quite a number of children are arriving late for school. This is causing huge disruptions in the classrooms. Anyone who arrives late to school after 8:45 am must come to the front door of the school to gain access as all the other doors will be locked. Anyone who arrives late to school after 9:00 am must provide the teacher with a note as to why they are late.
Today is Miss Dunne’s last day on teaching practice with Third and Fourth Class. She has been teaching Third and Fourth Class as part of her teacher training for the last two and a half months. The children have really enjoyed having Miss Dunne Teaching them. We would like to say a big thank you to Miss Dunne for all the hard work she had done with the children and we would like to wish her the best of luck in her teaching career!
There will be no homework club on Monday, 18th April 2016 due to a staff meeting.
Dance Classes will commence with our dance teacher Kevin for all children from Junior Infants to Sixth Class on Thursday, 5th May 2016 for six weeks. If you wish your child to participate in the dance classes the cost is ten euro per child. The children always enjoy these dance lessons with Kevin and they cannot wait to get started on this years dances for the whole school dance performance which will be sometime in June.

Weather permitting, we are looking forward to a fun and busy day in the garden on Thursday the 21st April 2016. All the children are asked to wear old clothes. Many thanks to Miriam McHale for organising the activities for the day.
Mrs. Crosby along with Third and Fourth Class have been completing the Blue Star Programme this year. They are really enjoying this programme this year and have completed a lot of work on Europe and the European Union. To finish up this programme we are holding a Europe Day in Kilbride National School on Wednesday, 20th April 2016. We have lots of fun activities planned for this day. There are activities that each class teacher will do with their class to teach them all about Europe and projects / other work that Third and Fourth Class have completed will be on display in the school for the other children to see. There will also be a whole school quiz based on Europe and the European Union. Finally, at 1pm, after big lunch the children will create a chain around the yard and we will do the handshake for Europe. We are all really looking forward to this day! Well done to Third and Fourth Class for all the hard work that they have put into the Blue Star Programme this year.
Weather permitting and providing the condition of the pitch has improved there will be hurling training after school on Tuesday, 19th April 2016. Any child from Third Class to Sixth Class who wishes to take part and be a member of the school hurling team should ensure that they bring their hurling gear including shin guards and a helmet with them to school on Tuesday.
