Senior Infants and First Class – Mrs. Mallee

9/6/20

During the school closure the boys and girls in senior infants and first class have been keeping extremely busy! There has been lots of baking, art, experiments, walking, and playing sports. I have been told that they are really enjoying the sunshine. As well as all the fun activities, the boys and girls are doing their school work every week and they have been working very hard at this.

Take a look at the photos I have been sent.

Well done boys and girls, keep up the fantastic work! 🙂

2nd April 2020

Hello boys and girls, Ms. Mullen here. I hope you are all keeping well. I miss you all very much and hopefully we will be back to school soon!

I am sure you are all being super boys and girls at home – doing your school work for Mammy and Daddy, helping out at home and having lots of fun.

I would love to see pictures of your work or of you doing fun activities at home. If you send me photos to msmullen2020@gmail.com it would definitely put a smile on my face until I see you all again.

Stay safe boys and girls, enjoy your Easter and don’t eat too many Easter eggs!! 🙂

See you all soon,

Ms. Mullen

Shapes are so much fun!

The boys and girls in senior infants and first class have been learning lots about 2D and 3D shapes. When the sun came out, we brought our learning outside and participated in a ‘shape hunt’. The children had to draw as many objects as they could from the school environment for each shape.  We had lots of fun and we realised that our school is full of shapes!

We also made shape people in art – take a look at them!

 3/02/20

We had a very busy January in senior infants and first class doing lots of work and having great fun in all our subjects. We have been engaging with the primary language curriculum – learning lots of new Irish vocabulary and learning and using new Irish phrases, songs and poems.

Senior infants have been doing Aistear every day. The theme was ‘places of work’. They have had so much fun. First class have been participating in literacy lift off – they love doing their English work in groups.

We read a great story called ‘The growing story’ and made lovely rainbows, flowers and winter hats inspired by the story.

We also have a whole noticeboard of all the English words from our reader.. ask us any word, I bet we will know every single one!!

Well done to the boys and girls. Lots of more exciting learning will take place in February.

Halloween!

There was lots of excitement for Halloween this week. The boys and girls dressed up into spooky outfits.. Ms. Mullen was afraid to enter the classroom!

We also played Halloween bingo, sang Halloween songs, made creepy crawly spiders and scary ghosts and had a party with lots of sweets!

We had lots of fun and are looking forward to our midterm 🙂

Senior infants and first class are learning lots about Autumn. Last week we made hedgehogs and this week we went on a nature walk around the school and collected autumn leaves and acorns to make squirrels. The children had lots of fun!

Who knew playing board games was so much fun?! The children in senior infants and first class loved playing board games today, and it was even better when they heard their only homework was to chat and have fun!
