Senior Infants and First Class

Strand: Measures

Strand unit: Length

The children in senior infants and first class enjoyed measuring the length of different objects in our school – both indoor and outdoor.

Senior infants measured the length of our classroom door, their table, maths book, pencil case and many other objects using cubes.

First class measured the length and width of the window, the door, the table, the whiteboard, the bookcase etc using cubes, straws, books and hand spans. They also measured the length of the classroom and the playground in metres.

All children estimated the length of the various objects before measuring. Everyone had lots of fun learning about length.

Take a look at some of our pictures.
