I have also set up an email (mrsscrosby@hotmail.com) should the parents need to get in contact with me regarding questions and queries about the work that I have set for Third and Fourth Class or if they wish to request more work. I have already seen some great photographs and videos of the wonderful things you are doing at home (learning to tie your shoelaces and cooking). Keep up the great work!! I would also like to say a HUGE "Happy Birthday" to any of my Third and Fourth Class who have birthdays during these school closures. I hope you have a lovely day celebrating with your family. Finally, have you entered our school Easter Competition? I wonder can you guess which baby is me!!!
So remember; stay safe, keep washing those hands, keep a safe distance from all the people who do not live in your house and above all do something fun every day!
Missing you all and hope to see you all very soon!

Bird Feeders
Third and Fourth Class have been working very hard this week at making bird feeders. The weather is very cold outside and we thought it would be a good idea to make some bird feeders to feed the hungry birds! We wrote the steps into our science copy and drew a picture of the end result. The children then worked in groups and we made four different bird feeders. When the bird feeders were made we then filled them with peanuts or bird seed before bringing them out to hang around the school area. They really enjoyed the activity, as you can see from the photographs!
We also learned some interesting facts in our lesson today:
- In icy cold weather, there is no water for the birds to drink because it is frozen. We must remember to leave out some water for the birds as well as their food!
- In very cold weather, one in four small birds will die from hunger.
- Birds such as geese and starlings come from cold lands to spend the winter in Ireland and then they leave again in the spring.

Third and Fourth Class News - Friday, 13th September 2019
Third and Fourth Class have been working very hard this week for Mrs. Crosby. We were all journalists this week and we published our own newspaper articles on the opening of Kilbride National School’s Outdoor Classroom. We have also been very busy learning all about Mé Féin and the Aimsir Chaite in Gaeilge. We have been putting a lot of work into learning our tables this week as well as place value and rounding in Maths. We also learned a little about the history of rugby and the history of the Rugby World Cup in preparation for this year’s World Cup starting next Friday in Japan. And that is just a tiny taster on all the hard work which has taken place in our classroom this week!! As well as the above some of the boys and girls in Third and Fourth Class took part in the Gaelic Football competition which started this week. The children also received their European country, which they will be responsible for, for the duration of the Blue Star Programme. The children are all so excited to start their projects based on their European country! And finally, the children all enjoyed their first swimming lesson of this school year which took place today. Well done this week to all the boys and girls in Third and a Fourth Class. Keep up the great work! Welcome Back
First full week back at school complete! The children have all settled back and are getting used to the routine of the school day once again. I would like to welcome back all the children in Third and Fourth Class this year. They have all worked really hard this week! Well done Third and Fourth Class. We have a very exciting year ahead of us with lots of work and lots of fun activities planned! We are especially looking forward to the football and the swimming which are starting next week. This year the children in Third and Fourth Class will also take part in the Blue Star Programme, where they will be learning all about the European Union. Finally, we will also be doing a lot of activities around the upcoming Rugby World Cup! And that is just in September!! Keep up the great work Third and Fourth Class.
