We are back into a great routine after our well-deserved midterm break.. The children were delighted to return, as was I. We are zooming towards the big 'C' - that being Christmas, so there is lots of planning and work going on in the background to get us ready for the wonderful, festive season. We may have already put up some stockings and decorations in the room, ssshhh don't tell anyone.
We have been making the most of the unusually mild weather in November and we have been out and about as much as we can every day. We are currently enjoying listening to The Enormous Turnip story in class. We had lots of fun during Science Week last week with a very special visit from Lola the chicken. She was by far the most favourite visitor in our classroom this year. We joined up with Rang Cairde Nua Gorm to try some fun experiments with milk and water.
We are also preparing for our Christmas show with lots happening behind the scenes. We are looking forward to getting festive. We love singing all the Christmas songs and we are enjoying creating some beautiful festive art pieces too. We can't wait to show them off. We are learning about the season of winter and what happens during this 'cold' season....rumours have it snow is on the way....
Check out some of the photos below from the last couple of weeks. More to follow.,...
The cold spell hit last week but we didn't let that deter us...there was plenty of opportunities to play with ice, slide on it, look at the spiders' webs hang eloquently in the frost.
We also continue to celebrate more birthdays in our classroom. The jellies, chocolate and crisps always go down a treat with the boys. Any excuse for a treat in our room 🙂
We are really settling into our class this month. We are getting to know each other and learning about our likes and dislikes. We love to get outside daily and make the most of the beautiful autumnal weather that we have been blessed with so far. We are enjoying watching the change of season. The colours that autumn brings are spectacular. We have enjoyed nature walks, leaf-picking and leaf rubbings as part of our theme of autumn. We always like to have the opportunity to play with water, whether it is using the tuff tray or jumping in muddy puddles. We also love to play board games in class, with Zingo Bingo being the favourite game this month. We have been learning lots about Halloween as we head towards our well-deserved midterm break. We are enjoying listening to the spooky Halloween songs, straw- blowing paint to create scary Halloween monsters and slime/obleck making with cornflour and water.
Check out the photos below of all the activities that have happened in the last few weeks.
Welcome to Rang Cairde Nua Buí,
I am so excited to start a new school year in such a wonderful class. I am so lucky to have 6 wonderful boys who will make this year a fantastic one. We have been very busy settling into the first couple of weeks of school. I have been busy trying to get to know everyone and of course, the boys have been busy trying to get to know me. I am very lucky to have Alison and Sarah, two fantastic SNAs in the school, working with me this year. Alison knows most of the class from last year, which is wonderful. We have a new student in Rang Cairde Nua Buí, which we are all very excited about. We are very excited to have Tom with us and we look forward to showing him all the fun things we do in our school.
Since we got back to school, we have been busy indoors and outdoors, We have made the most of the glorious weather and had lots of fun and play outside. We have been busy inside too, playing, sorting, matching, mixing, painting, learning etc. It has been a great two weeks and we are really looking forward to our year together. This term will be all about getting to know each other, finding out things that we like/don't like, sharing our interests and learning lots of new things.
Keep an eye out on this page for more photos and updates.
