As part of our whole school plan in Visual Arts we studied a brief history of the artist Vincent Van Gogh. Take a look at a few examples of our fabulous work.
Fourth and Fifth Class have been busy leaning about the life and works of Vincent Van Gough. They created their own interpretation of his famous work 'The Bedroom'.
Following an application process the sixth class pupils of Kilbride National School have been chosen to be the Ambassadors for the Ombudsman for Children. They are only one of two schools in the country. We have been leaning all about Children's Rights and what the Ombudsman for Children actually does to help children in Ireland. Here is our journey so far....
Visit 1: The OCO team visited our our school to meet our School Ambassadors for an introduction on the work of the Office and for a workshop on Children’s Rights.
Visit 2: Our School Ambassadors were invited to attend Child Talks 2024 at the Helix, DCU on World Children’s Day, November 20th.
On Thursday the 23rd of January we will had our ‘Everyone has a Voice’ day dedicated to promoting children's rights. All the teachers taught specially designed activities and lessons. Each class learned about their rights at an age appropriate level and all about how their voice matters.
Each class will also created pieces of artwork, to be displayed, based on children’s rights:

The Ombudsman for Children, Dr Niall Muldoon will made a special visit to your school. on the 30th of January 2025.
On this very exciting day we had a whole school presentation illustrating how we are promoting the rights of children.
Visit 4: The OCO team will return to your school before school end June 2025 to present your OCO School Ambassadors Certificate
Our very active boys and girls in Junior Infants are skipping around Europe as part of the Active Schools Programme.
The children in Junior Infants learned all about Ireland. We learned that the River Shannon is the longest river and Dublin is the capital city. We also enjoyed being weather forecasters during Aistear.
The children in Senior Infants were skipping to the UK today! They enjoyed skipping out in the fresh air. They will skip to other European countries over the next few weeks for our Whole school Active Schools initiative! Well done Senior Infants!
The children in 3rd class learned all about Denmark this year. The class worked together on group projects and presented posters all about Denmark. Well done everyone.
