Fifth and Sixth Class

Physical Education Time!

Fifth and sixth class are busy getting back to work for the new school year but there is still plenty of time for some fun outside. This week we took part in some athletics stations outside on the yard and in the astro. Take a look at us all enjoying ourselves.

Piet Mondrian Art

Fifth and Sixth Class created some beautiful perspective aquariums inspired by our European artist of the month Piet Mondrian.

Athboy Community School - 6th class visit

The boys and girls in sixth class attended a wonderful open day in Athboy Community School where they were treated to a taster of Home Economics, where they made pizzas, and Woodwork, where they constructed butt joints. It was a fantastic day that got us all thinking about the next stages of our education.

Explanatory Writing - Ireland

As part of the Primary Language Curriculum the boys and girls in fifth and sixth class created wonderful projects on our own country of Ireland. Their beautiful and very impressive work is on display in the corridor for all of our pupils and staff to enjoy.

Fairy-tale of the Month - Little Red Riding Hood

The boys and girls in fifth and sixth class wrote some very creative newspaper reports based on our Fairy-tale of the month Little Red Riding Hood.

As part of the Meath CBF fifth and sixth class engaged in a wonderful live zoom with the very famous author Matt Oldfield.

Drumming with Dave

Science Week 2025

Science week 2025 got off to a great start this week when we watched a fantastic online Curious MInd's presentation.

Intel Mini Scientist - 5th and 6th class

The boys and girls in Mrs Mallee's fifth and sixth class also participated in the Intel Mini Scientist project. They worked individually and in groups to create an extremely wide variety of projects. Everyone in our school also had the opportunity to visit our projects as part of our in school science fair on Thursday the 13th of November.

Child Talks 2025

Kilbride National School were very proud representatives for the Ombudsman for children office in the academic year of 2024 - 2025. As a result of this brilliant achievement our current sixth class were invited to attend this year's Child Talks in the the Helix on Thursday the 21st of November to mark World Children's Day 2025. Cinderella Rockerfella

The boys and girls have had a fabulous December filled with Christmas activities. The peak of the excitement came in the form of our Christmas performance of the fabulous panto Cinderella Rockerfella. Take a look!

Music

The children in Fifth and Sixth were so excited about using the school's musical instruments today to make beautiful music as part of the Dabbledoo Music Programme. Each group had a colour and a different instrument. They had to pay close attention and only play their instruments when their colour was highlighted. They had great fun completing this activity.

6th Class SESE Trip to Newgrange - 28/01/26

Sixth Class had a great trip today to Newgrange in County Meath as part of our SESE. They got lots of time to explore the Visitor Centre and then we all went on a bus trip up to the passage tomb itself. We got to walk around and explore as well as going inside to see the chamber and experience what it would be like to be in the tomb during the winter solstice. The children had a great day and really enjoyed listening to all the history and geography to do with the area.

Cumann na mBunscol Quiz

These two teams headed off to Kildalky on Friday, 23rd January 2026 to represent Kilbride National School at the Cumann na mBunscol quiz. The teams did very well and we are very proud of them here in Kilbride National School!

Féile Fichille - Thursday, 5th February 2026

Well done to the two chess teams from Fifth and Sixth who attended the Féile Fichille competition on Thursday, 5th February 2026. The Kilbride Gambit team came in First Place on the day and the Kilbride Silent Checkmates came in Third Place. Huge congratulations to both teams. We are all so proud of you here in Kilbride National School.

Credit Union Quiz - Friday, 6th February 2026

Well done to our u - 13 and u - 11 teams in the Credit Union Quiz which took place in Drogheda last Friday the 6th February 2026. They did very well and had a great time at the quiz. Well done to the boys and girls and a big thank you to the parents who attended the quiz!
