Newsletter 27th November 2012

Journalism Committee:

There has been a Journalism Committee established in the school and the website is currently being updated with news and photos of Science week and Halloween in Kilbride. Please check out the children’s work at www.kilbridenstrim.scoilnet.ie/blog.

Junior Library Trip

This Thursday, 29th November the children in Junior Infants–2nd Class will be visiting Trim Library.   A bus has been organised and I would appreciate if each child could bring in €2.00 towards the transport cost. The children will take a tour of the library and learn about the different genres of books.   All children will have the opportunity to select and read books during their visit.   If your child is currently a member of Trim Library they will be able to exchange or borrow books during their visit. Please complete and return the form below by tomorrow, Wednesday 28th November 2012.

Christmas Celebrations

The Christmas Celebrations will be taking place on Tuesday, 18th December at 7.30pm in Kilbride Church.   The children will be having a Prayer Service with carols, poems and an Infant Nativity Play.  Please complete and return the attached form to confirm that your child will be in attendance on the evening of the Christmas Celebration.

Equestrian Team

Well done to Zach and Josh Gavin who are representing the school in the Primary Interschools Showjumping Competition. The event is taking place over the next six months. Good luck to the boys!

Giving Tree

This year the teachers have organised a special “Giving Tree” for Christmas to emphasise that it’s the thought that counts. On the branches there will be “Good Deeds” that can be taken and given to someone as a gift.

It has also been decided that remaining toys originally donated for the jumble sale will be wrapped by the children and donated to St. Vincent de Paul.

Literacy and Numeracy Questionnaires:

Thanks to all parents and pupils who helped us by filling out the Literacy and Numeracy Questionnaires. We appreciate that you took the time to do so, and believe that it is of huge benefit to all. We have noted all suggestions and will communicate the improvements to parents as the year progresses.

We are currently listing a selection of books that can would be suitable for each class. This will shortly be viewable on the school website www.kilbridenstrim.scoilnet.ie/blog.

It may be useful for parents to know that the curriculum is viewable online at www.ncca.ie (Primary Section). This will give an indication of the level that your child is expected to be at in each subject.

Finally, thank you for your patience and co-operation whilst the Improvement

Works on the septic tank and football pitch continue.
