Welcome back to school to everyone in Second Class! We are thrilled to have another year together with lots of learning and fun! Have a look at our page to see some of the activities we have gotten up to so far this year.
We completed some SPHE lessons based on the Someone Like Me theme. This involved learning about disabilities - those which are visible, and those which may not be. We then worked together as a class to create an art piece inspired by the theme, which we entered into the national art competition. The children have worked on the project over the last few weeks, and came up with all of the ideas and slogans themselves!

We had great fun during Science Week in 2nd Class. We teamed up with 1st Class to carry out a few different investigations and experiments. We also got the chance to visit 3rd Class to see some of their experiments, and 5th and 6th Class to learn about their very impressive Intel projects.

We are really enjoying our drumming lessons with Dave so far this year!

The children created some spooky silhouette pieces over two art lessons. First, they painted a background using shades of yellow, orange and red. Once dry, they added Halloween imagery using black oil pastels.

We enjoyed an action-packed Maths Week in Second Class. We took part in a Zoom Webinar for children across Ireland, we had great fun during the whole-school maths trail and we enjoyed playing lots of maths related games on Friday.

We were learning all about 2-D shapes in maths this week. We really enjoyed shape stations on Thursday.

We started our Active Schools skipping challenge this week. We had lots of fun counting our skips and "travelling" across the world each day! We also enjoyed some team-building games and races in PE this week.

The children are really enjoying the outdoor classroom at lunch times where they can go to enjoy a quiet game of chess!

We learned about our artist of the month Piet Mondrian this week. We looked at and discussed some of his work, taking inspiration from him to create our own paintings.

We had great fun on Tuesday playing tag rugby! We are lucky enough to have a coach from Leinster Rugby in for the next few weeks to train us!

We have been learning all about where we live this week. We learned the names of the counties and learned about the different provinces.
