World Book Day in Senior Infants
Senior Infants really enjoyed World Book Day. They all dressed up as their favourite story character. In the morning, they took turns for the class to show their costumes and have them guess what character they were. They listened to an illustrator on how to draw the main character for their book, which they found interesting. Then, they designed a book cover for their favourite story and took turns chatting to their friend about the books they brought in and of course there was time to read too.. Later they got to listen to Ms. O'Beirn's class, read their book to them, before going home. They really enjoyed the day.

Senior Infant's trip to Trim Fire Station
Senior Infants had a great day, when they got to visit Trim Fire Station, at the end of February. They learnt all about the important job of the firemen. The staff welcomed the children and showed them around the station, explained their job and answered all their questions. The children were very excited to try on a fire men's coat and helmet, as well as spray water from the fire hose. Although, it was a very wet day and they didn't get to go to the playground they had a great day. They had a picnic inside, back at school, where they shared their fun experience.

January & February in Senior infant's
Senior Infant's have been busy practicing their reading and writing since returning to school after the Christmas holidays. They love time reading books from our library and chatting to their friends about the books they have chosen. They had great fun and enjoyed making their own mini-books, which afterwards they read to one another. As well as lots of practice on reading and writing Senior Infants, have been enjoying Maths station. They love showing and seeing other friend's work on our display wall - The Work We Are Proud Of. This shows some of their own drawings based on the artist Dali's idea on surrealism, one of many they have been learning about. Other lessons have included time working on a textured St. Brigid's Day cross, printing and painting. Senior Infants love fun activities and using their creative skills in other lessons too such as time doing drama and dance. They have enjoyed using their new Irish words for stories such as - The Gingerbread Man (An Buachailín Sinséir) and An Chircín Bheag. In PE and music, they have had time to create their own dances. All were very excited when Ms. Mullen and Junior Infants came to visit us to celebrate 100 days in school.

October in Senior Infants
Senior Infants have had a very busy October so far. They got to vote for their student council representative in the first week and have been active outside doing The Skip Around the World challenge. All have really enjoyed learning about Autumn this month. They had fun outside on a scavenger hunt looking for signs of Autumn. They made lots of lovely art, creating their Autumn trees by drawing their hands for the tree trunk and painted the leaves using broccoli stalks as a paint brush. They also helped make an Autumn tree for our notice board using their handprints, which they coloured and cut out for the leaves of the tree. Senior Infants made Autumn wreaths too to bring home as reminder of this month's theme. There has been lots of learning new rhymes and songs such as Duilleoga Deasa Deasa in Irish to name but a few. In English and History, they have been looking at the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears as well as The Little Red Hen, which they had lots of fun acting out in drama. Many brought lots of things in to remind us of Autumn such as conkers, acorns and leaves for our theme table that we got to look at and chat about each day.
