Step One - Science

Environmental awareness and care.

Senior Infants were learning about ways of conserving water. They created posters called 'Don't Waste a Drop' in pairs and were very enthusiastic then to share their posters and what they learned with our friends in Junior Infants. Well done everyone!

Energy and forces: 3,2,1.....Blast Off!!

Senior Infants were busy scientists today! They investigated how to make a rocket fly by using air as a force. They made their rockets using card, scissors and glue, then they tested how far they could launch them using straws to blow air into them and make them fly!

Living Things

Junior Infants were delighted to get a visit from Jamie the lamb. We have been learning about Spring, so having the lamb in our classroom was very special.

We were inspired by our visit and made our own lambs during our art lesson.

Materials

The children in Junior Infants went on a 'Materials Hunt' around our classroom to find something made of glass, wood, metal and plastic. They did great work and found lots of objects for each of the materials.

Space Week

The children in Junior Infants learned the names of all the planets during Space Week.

We had lots of fun doing a Space dance.

We also used our 2D shapes to make funny aliens.

Science Week

The children in Junior Infants buddied up with our friends in 5th and 6th class to do Science experiments during science week. We had lots of fun making spiral snakes, using marshmallows and cocktail sticks to make 2D and 3D shapes, using magnets, creating rainbow skittles and making raisins dance!!
We can’t wait for next years Science Week already!
