First Class have been exploring tens and ones using base ten materials to build and represent numbers. Through hands-on activities, the children are learning that ten ones make one ten, helping them develop their understanding of place value.

First Class enjoyed a fun STEM challenge, working in groups to design and create playgrounds while developing teamwork, maths and creativity skills and integrating SPHE as part of the new Primary Curriculum. The children then assessed one another’s designs, celebrating successes and suggesting improvements.

First Class explored the school grounds in pairs, searching for signs of autumn and ticking their discoveries on a checklist. This hands-on Geography lesson encouraged teamwork and observation while helping the children recognise seasonal changes in their local environment.
