Here is a list of suggested activities that you could do at home as part of Kilbride’s National School’s Sports Day at Home 2020 on Friday, 12th June 2020:
Design your own obstacle course.
Garden Sprint.
Shuttle Run (Set up two markers (2 – 3 meters apart). The child runs between the two markers. How many times can they run between the two markers in one minute bending down each time to touch the marker).
Long Jump.
Welly Throw.
Egg / Spud and Spoon Race.
Sack Race.
Crab Race.
Crawling Race.
Overhead Football Throw (Have four different markers – one set at 1m, 2m , 5m and 10m. Throw the football over head twice and add the distance.)
Tennis / Hurley Challenge (How many times can you hope a tennis ball / sliotar on your tennis racket / hurley in 30 seconds.)
Five Bounding Strides (Take five strides and place a marker where your heel lands on the last stride. Measure the distance.)
Target Throw: Place the bucket one metre away and see how many clothes pegs you can toss into the bucket in one minute.
Target Kick: Place the bucket one metre away and see how many times you can kick the ball into the bucket in one minute.
Scavenger Hunt (Make up your own Scavenger Hunt or use either “Five Senses Scavenger Hunt” or “Scavenger Hunts around the House and Garden”. )
Bottle Flip Challenge (Set timer to one minute and see how many times you can flip the bottle into standing position! Easy – Flip onto the ground / Hard – Flip onto a table.) https://youtu.be/JzW2SmOKT8I
Paper Airplane Cornhole Challenge (Make three paper airplanes. Set timer to one minute and see how many times you can throw your airplanes into the bucket. 1 point if you hit the bucket, 2 points if you get the airplane into the bucket.) https://youtu.be/blQoR7hB9vo
