Third Class

Welcome to Third Class!

As a new teacher I am thrilled to be part of this lovely school. The children in Third Class have been so welcoming and friendly. I am one lucky teacher!

This month we learned the poem The Wise Old Owl and the children drew owls in our Art class.

We are also enjoying our Weaving Well Being lessons which help us develop a positive mental attitude.

More photos to follow next month!

October 2023

Hello everyone

Welcome to Third Class once again. I cant believe it is nearly midterm. The time is flying.

The children are working so so hard and I am so proud of each and every one of them. We have had a very busy term so far.

Children completed swimming lessons which were definitely the highlight of each week. Well done to all.

Well done to Rebecca who is our Student Council representative.

A special congratulations to Isabelle who won 2nd prize in an art competition which I entered our class into. She beat off stiff competition from schools all over Meath. Enjoy your 50 euro voucher Isabelle.

We also enjoyed Maths week here in Kilbride National School. On Thursday we participated in a whole school maths trail which the children enjoyed. We have also been doing lots of lovely maths activities in our classroom this week.

Halloween is nearly upon us. In 3rd class we have been busy doing lovely art, poetry and creative writing.

Photos to follow.

Happy Halloween and have a lovely midterm break,

Ms Olwill.

November 2023.

Hello again everyone.

I hope you are all well. It has been a really busy time in our classroom and in our school since the midterm break. Time is going so fast.

Next week is parent teacher meetings week and I am really looking forward to meeting you all. The children are all working so hard so I will be sharing lots of good news with you all..

This month so far we have been focusing on The Vikings and will be doing a project on this topic. Thank you to all the parents for helping the children complete work during storm Debi. I know it was difficult for some people with no electricity and internet. Thank you for all the hard work.

This week in Kilbride National School was Science week.

Children enjoyed participating in class experiments, as well as joining up with 4th, 5th and 6th classes. Those children demonstrated exciting lessons which 3rd class really enjoyed.

Today 5th class joined us for a Science morning. We made snow globes and had a food tasting test. The children worked cooperatively and it was a lovely morning of learning. Photos to follow.

Looking forward to seeing you all next week.

Thank you for your continued support with your childs' education.

Ms Olwill.

January 2024

Hello everyone

Happy New Year.

The children have really settled in so well after the Christmas break. I want to say a big thank you to all you parents for your support to date. We have been so busy in our classroom and our school that I do not know where to start....

Firstly a huge congratulations to Lila O'Brien who was the overall winner in an art competition in Lynch's chemist in Kells. She designed a Christmas jumper template and won a Smyth's voucher for 25 euros. Well done Lila. Happy spending.

This has been a very busy month. We have been learning about the artist Miro, in our art lessons. We studied Denmark, and are currently learning about the Six Counties of Northern Ireland. We have also been exploring various genres of music including Nathan Carter, Phil Coulter, and the Cranberries , to name but a few. The children are really enjoying this.

We celebrated Grandparents Day on January 25th. It was such a special day. It was lovely to meet parents, grandparents and godparents and all the children worked so hard to prepare for this wonderful occasion, well done to everyone involved.

This week we are learning all about St Brigid. The children have enjoyed singing her special song and we are excited to welcome Spring to our school.... We are currently making a whole school cloak, and are designing and completing lots of nice art work for our special saint.

Good luck to Oisín, and Darragh who take part in the chess tournament on Friday 2nd of February.

Thank you all for your hard work with your children and for your continued support.
