National Tree Week: 3rd - 8th March 2014

During the week of the 3rd to the 8th of March it was National Tree Week. The children learned all about trees and the importance of them as part of the world in which we live in.

Tree Fact: Despite great advances in the past one hundred years, Ireland remains one of the least wooded countries in Europe with only 11% of our land planted with trees compared to the European average of 40%.

If you would like to learn more about trees you can visit www.treecouncil.ie

To mark National Tree Week the children in Third and Fourth Class collected and planted apple seeds. They are looking after the trees and watering them everyday! We hope to see some evidence of growth in the coming weeks.
